Is gorilla glue a good idea for wedding centerpieces?
Q. Hi am doing wedding centerpieces and am adding ribbon and pearls to a glass bubble bowl with a hot glue gun, but when I see them the next day the are falling off. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to use gorilla glue?

A. gorilla glue is a moisture cure urethane that bubbles (CO2) from the reaction with water. It won't work well for this project. go to the hobby shop and buy some acrylic hobby glue (gold bottle with white lettering). Called Aleen's Tacky Glue. super clue can work. It is not the best choice- the bond is not stable with water. It also leaves white residue all over the place from the reaction products inside (inhibited by O2, accelerated with alcohol).

Is it possible to get gorilla glue off a wooden floor?
Q. I wish I could say my pre-schooler was working on an art project, but it was my college student who was working on a project with gorilla glue and has spilled several patches of glue on my wooden kitchen floor. Short of having it sanded and re-stained professionally, is there anything I can do to get if off? Pretty sure I already know the answer, but I'm holding out hope for a miracle reply. Thanks! OMG Woodwerk - thank God for you! I will that !!

A. sure you can. the glue will not have as strong a bond due to the polyurethane on the floor as it would if the wood was bare. apply heat via a hair dryer or a household iron with a thin towel over the glue just till it starts to soften and break the bond. then scrape it up with a thin putty knife. after that a little acetone will remove the residual resin.

Gorilla Glue on an Inflatable Ball?
Q. My neighbor and I have this inflatable ball that is very similar to a beach ball but larger. There was a pretty big rip in the side of it and we used Gorilla Glue to try to seal it. When it dries, will it have worked? Will we need to be extra careful with it?

A. Believe it or not, Gorilla Glue is not the answer to ALL gluing situations, and is not the best for most of them. Unless you both figured out a way to clamp the parts together (GG does not fill gaps and will push apart unclamped items) and the ball is a type of plastic that will accept adhesives, all you have succeeded in doing is creating a mess.
