Why is a gorilla considered a gentle animal?
Q. A gorilla is really cool, tigers and lions roar.
Asked by Daniel - Mon Aug 30 22:18:33 2010 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. When they were first found, they were thought of as being savage beasts that eat meat. We have since learned that they are peaceful vegetarians that live in family groups. Granted, adult male gorillas do engage in combat for dominance and possession of a group of females, and male gorillas are known to commit infanticide when they have usurped the rule of a reigning silverback male, a behavior also found in male tigers, gorillas nevertheless do not kill other animals for food, unlike their close relatives the chimpanzees, and they do not kill humans except in self defense. So they are considered gentle animals by those who know them. However, they are powerful animals that are fully capable of killing adult humans.

How does a gorilla discipline its young?
Q. When a baby gorilla misbehaves in the wild (or a zoo, I suppose) how does the mother gorilla (or other gorillas in the band) discipline the baby? Does the mother push or hit the baby or is it ignored? What happens? Thanks.
Asked by Mighty Mouse - Wed Oct 28 18:23:48 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It all depends on what the infant is doing, different behavior will cause different disciplinary action. For example making mom mad is going to be a very different behavior than making the silverback of the group mad. Disciplinary action can be hitting, biting, shoving, yelling and sometimes as simple as gently holding the infant down. The one good thing with gorillas is they are extremely smart and they understand how far they can "punish" an infant or juvenile without doing serious physical harm. Of course accidents do happen, but overall things go well.

Can a man knock out a gorilla using only hand to hand combat?
Q. I was just wondering if a man, of any reasonable size, would be able to knock out a gorilla I know for example that taekwondo (sp?) practitioners can put ~alot~ of force behind their kicks. Could this be enough to knock out a gorilla?
Asked by RavenFace - Thu Feb 11 02:34:37 2010 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Odds would be the same as a 7 year old knocking out a fully grown adult.

A. Zoology is basically biology so you will need good passes in the sciences, maths and english at GCSE. But really it is A-levels that are important. For this you will need to do biology to get in to a zoology degree at Uni. That is essential. Other than that, they like the subjects that make you look smart :) Like the chemistry, maths, languages ect. Chemistry would be great at A level if you can do it (it's hard!), as Zoology has ALOT of chemistry in it, and maths, and ICT! If you don't do chemistry for A level you will do a course in it at the start of your degree. There are loads of universities that do zoology, just type it in to the UCAS website (you will learn about that in 6th form). I have typed a link that will hopefully show you… [cont.]

What would win in a fight, a grizzly bear or a gorilla?
Q. I have had this argument with my friend for a while. I personally think if the gorilla got angry it would win. My friend says the bear is too powerful. NO smarmy comments about how they would never fight etc. Just for Jerry T, there are no rules. And the fight is in a jungle, so yes the gorilla can swing on trees.
Asked by 65daysofstatic - Wed Nov 19 18:24:44 2008 - - 16 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well a full grown silverback mountain gorilla can beat off a lion attack. And grizzlies can win a bull/bear fight like they use to have in the old American west. I think the gorilla would win, but would be so mauled that it would die soon after. A pyrrhic victory for the ape.

How to get Gorilla Glue of off Intex Pool Top Ring?

A. Gorilla Glue is polyurethane glue, which is activated by moisture. It foams up once it begins curing. When wet, you can remove it with mineral spirits. When dry, all you can do is chisel. If you use solvents, you'll soften or disintegrate the pool's plastic or vinyl parts. If I were you, I would try to use the product you have over top of the old glue; you might get a bond. If not, get someone out there who knows what they're doing.

When you get down to just the residue holding on the concrete, get some "caulk and foam sealant remover" from Lowe's or Home depot. Follow the instructions and it will remove the remnants.
