Koko (born July 4, 1971, at San Francisco Zoo) is a Lowland Gorilla who, according to Francine 'Penny' Patterson, is able to understand more than 1,000 signs based on American Sign Language, and understand approximately 2,000 words of spoken English. She has lived most of her life in Woodside, California, although a move to a sanctuary in Maui, Hawaii has been planned since the 1990s. Koko is short for the name Hanabiko (花火子, lit. "fireworks child" in Japanese, a reference to her date of birth, the Fourth of July). From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License If Adam and Eve ate the fruit, how can Michael and Koko tell lies? Q. Michael and Koko are two gorillas who learned sign language. The way they communicate with humans, is amazing to watch. Both gorillas lie when it suits them. Koko, for example, after breaking a kitchen sink, was asked "Who broke the kitchen sink?". Koko indicates another staff member, whirls about and starts to laugh. Koko obviously knows right from wrong, or else she wouldn't feel the need to tell such lies. If Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, which gave them (and thus all humans) the knowledge of right and wrong, how did animals get that same knowledge? Can you guess how they do that? edit: Clue: If you know the "Why?" then I bet you can figure out the "How?" Answered by Diana Enright - Thu Nov 13 12:46:46 2008 Why did God make Gorrilas so human-like? To trick us into the evolution-hell trap? Q. Someone posted this. Here you can watch a Gorilla communicate, literally. Koko was shown a video of potential mates. She was able to make fun of some uglier gorillas, and go "ape" over more desirable ones. You just have to see it, theres no question this Gorilla thinks, has thoughts, and can communicate. God must have known evil-Darwin would make-up his crazy theory right? So think about it, why would God allows such compelling evidence to support it? God certainly doesnt want to punish the truth seekers does he? Its a test right. Well, I dont know why God wants to do so many tests upon us, but this particular tests seems most ridiculous. I mean, what is he testing here, reading skills? Anyone who has worked with non-human animals, especially primates would absolutely agree. Thank you for the good links and good work. Answered by Sara - Thu Feb 15 20:58:15 2007 If animals could talk would people be as inclined to eat them?
Q. Apparently some do even on our level. When my moms parrots want water they say water and when you leave the house the say goodbye. We they see a cat they'll jokingly say "here kitty kitty kitty." This is no joke. My mother's birds can talk. When she is mad at them or they are mad at another bird being noisy they will say, "bad bird! bad bird!" Also there are gorillas that can have a conversation with you in sign language. Koko has been I.Q. tested between 70 and 90 with human average being 98. Think of all the dolphin, otter, whale, elephant, tiger and other shows in which animals do amazing things via some training. Without more intelligence than many people recognize they would not be able to do some of these amazing feats. Asked by Love of Truth - Fri May 23 14:35:10 2008 - - 13 Answers - 0 Comments A. I think it wouldn't make a difference. But there's so many animals that can talk! I've seen an old crow at the local Humane Society shelter that can speak, believe it or not. For the first 5-10 minutes I thought the person that came with me was pulling one on me, and maybe was just a really amazing ventriloquist. But apparently crows are insanely intelligent and can talk just like parrots! The only reason gorillas and other monkeys can't talk is because their vocal chords are very different from ours. But as you said, they are very literate in sound language, many of which can outperform a human child in terms of language acquisition, comprehension, etc. While a part of me wants to believe that people wouldn't want to slaughter a cow if… [cont.] Answered by Maggie - Fri May 23 15:35:28 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Koko (gorilla)" Baby Bash gathers up head-to-toe coverage - Honolulu Star-Advertiser
